Community Vision & Plan for Our Future

Our future depends on us providing opportunities for our children right away. Take a moment to review my Vision for our Future and see if you agree that we need a change — starting on June 11.

Accomplishments

Projects need to reflect our priorities within the Reservation.  These are some highlights of the projects that I was involved in and a list of priorities the Band should consider.

Priorities:
#1 Engage all members in a vision for the future.
#2 Establish a plan and timeline to address vacancies in critical positions.
#3 Provide a plan for services in Duluth and Minneapolis to assist members right away.
Z

Advocated for inclusion of Fond du Lac businesses at events and expansion of resource development for band member-owned businesses.

Z

In 2019-2021, the Band responded quickly and efficiently to COVID-19. As an RBC member, there were weekly reviews of COVID-19 mitigation plans and COVID-19 response across the Reservation.

Z

Brought awareness to Drug Free Zones around the community centers and advocated for children and youth that use the community centers daily.

Z

Increased public safety along Highway 210 by consulting with MnDOT about plans for changing the speed limit in Sawyer, installing crosswalks, and establishing streetlights.

Z

Assisted with negotiations with the city of Duluth regarding Fond du Luth Casino.

Z

After finishing of the CAIR building in Duluth, we need to continue with Phase II expansion; there has not been progress on this for two years.
